Welcome to A Map to Nowhere!

This is a place where I explore ideas about thought, consciousness, meditation, and anything else that might come up along the way. It has been inspired by many people but most significantly Jiddu Krishnamurti and David Bohm. Their work has led me to reflect on my own experience and realize that for most of my life I hadn't thought much about thought. Have you thought about thought? This podcast has been created so we can explore these topics together.

Humanity has spent thousands of years exploring the land, ocean, and cosmos with a sense of adventure and curiosity. Yet when we turn inward, we often meet ourselves with judgment, self-criticism, and other distorted views of what we are. This project begins with a simple invitation, to ask what we might discover if we looked at our own inner world with the same openness and curiosity as we do when exploring our planet and the night sky.

A Map to Nowhere is an experiment in that direction. Episodes of this podcast are short reflections, meditations, and occasional conversations. You are not asked to believe anything or follow a new path, only to inquire into the nature of your own experience. In these explorations, we'll look at the boundaries of the known, and find out if it is possible to go beyond them. I hope you will come along with me on this journey of self-inquiry, and together we'll gain a deeper insight into the nature of ourselves and the universe!

The Introduction

This episode introduces A Map to Nowhere and the topics that will be explored in future episodes. It touches on themes of self-inquiry, the nature of thought, and the search for truth. The intention is to invite listeners to reflect on their own experiences and question their assumptions about reality. I hope it sparks curiosity and encourages further exploration of these topics.

On naming

“A Map to Nowhere” was inspired by my own travels along a path shaped by countless generations before me. Everything I've come accross along the way has contributed to this project, which is the cumulative result of one person’s limited experiences. A friend introduced me to the work of Jiddu Krishnamurti (K) and, while learning about who he was, came accross K's speech as he dissolved the Order of the Star. In it he declared that "Truth is a pathless land" and as someone who has spent much of my life outdoors, both professionally and recreationally, the image of a path brought up thoughts of a map and compass, the tools we rely on for navigation. The name A Map to Nowhere arose from this contrast: the desire for a clear route to a psychological awakening, and the recognition that the search for Truth does not follow one. Any system or doctrine that claims to be that clear path must be a map to nowhere.

In this spirit, I invite you to explore the content here with an open mind and a sense of curiosity. The intention is not to provide definitive answers or a fixed path, but rather to encourage personal exploration and self-inquiry. As you navigate through the episodes and resources, I hope you find moments of insight and clarity that resonate with your own journey.
